Açık Ses / Open AudioTürkçe
Free, open-source audio tool

Free open-source speech-to-text and subtitles online

Turn speech in an audio or video recording into a timed SRT or WebVTT subtitle file, or download plain text. Free, open source and no account required.

Create subtitles from an audio or video file

Open Audio runs Whisper.cpp to recognize speech and produce a transcript with timestamps. Use the file for subtitles in a video editor or review the text as a transcript.

Choose automatic language detection or select a language in the tool. Recognition is not perfect: names, accents, overlapping voices and poor recordings can cause errors, so review the output before publishing.

SRT, WebVTT and plain text output

  • SRT: a widely supported subtitle file with timed caption blocks.
  • VTT: a WebVTT subtitle file for web video players.
  • TXT: plain transcribed text without subtitle timing.

Choose the format before starting the transcription.

Supported upload formats and limits

Accepted formats: AAC, FLAC, M4A, MKV, MOV, MP3, MP4, OGA, OGG, OPUS, WAV, WebM and WMA. Files can be up to 32 MB and 5 minutes. The multilingual model supports speech recognition in many languages; available languages can be selected in the tool.

Temporary processing and privacy

The recording is processed in a temporary folder and the input and generated transcript are deleted after the download response finishes. Audio and transcripts are not kept as user files. See the privacy page.
